Traveling to Melbourne

Woke up to a cold and windy day.  Packed and headed to the Sydney Airport for our flight to Melbourne-Avalon.  All flights were delayed due to winds across all Australia.  When we landed, the weather was cold, windy, overcast with rain showers.   Definitely not shorts weather.  Not much to photograph in this weather.
Melbourne-Avalon is a new JetStar terminal about 50 km northwest of Melbourne.  We picked up our rental car and drove thru Melbourne to Dandenong which is 40 km southeast of Melbourne.  Fortunately Melbourne has a good set of motorways all the way but crowded with outbound traffic.  Once we got to Dandenong, our navigator, Kathy, with the help of the rental car map book, got us to our motel in Braeside.  An early dinner and off to bed to get ready for tomorrow.
Australia has some motorways, like the M1 we took from Melbourne to Dandenong, which are e-ticket roads.  You have to have an electronic transponder like our Fast-track to drive on them, no toll takers.  If you don’t have the transponder, you have 48 hours to call and buy a 1 day pass.  Its sort of an honor system with heavy fines if you don’t call.
