On to Blue Mountains

Got up after a short nights sleep, packed and went across the street to our cafe-hot spot.  Imagine video conferencing with Denise while ordering breakfast!  Its Denise’s 3:30 PM.  We really amazed the waitress.   Recovered the car from the garage and drove out of Sydney up to the Blue Mountain area.  They have a very limited freeway system that only goes a mile or two out from the city center and does not extend out to the suburbs.  Even at 10 AM there was a large amount of traffic going into Sydney.  Its easy to see why they had gridlock for 3 days last week.
They do have a good motorway out by the Olympic Stadium area and on to the Blue Mountains area.  There we climbed 600-700 meters.  Each town we drove through has its own slogan, i.e. ’Jewel of the Mountain’  etc.  At Wentworth Falls we stopped to view the falls. (What else?)  On to Katoomba to see the ‘Three Sisters’ shown at left and to checkout the souvenir shops.  After lunch we decided to stay in Katoomba.  Katoomba is sort of a cross between Alburn and Truckee.  Its at the top of the Victoria Pass but it is not high enough to be Truckee.  Checked into the local Best Western Motel and took naps.  Both of us were tired from the late night before and are fighting off colds.  Jerry got us pizza and wine for dinner.  Tomorrow should have more activity if we feel better.
